New Careers and
Lifestyle Event Hopes to Help Scotland’s Youngsters
Choosing the right path isn’t easy at any time of life but
it’s particularly hard when you’re younger. With youth unemployment at its
highest level for decades, what you choose to do after you leave school or
university is even more important than ever. While there might not be as many jobs out there as we’d all
like, there are still loads of opportunities to learn new skills, gain new
qualifications and start a great career right here in Scotland.
A new event called the Futures Fest, set to take place on
Glasgow’s George Square at the end of April, hopes to inject a little
positivity into the lives of uncertain 16-25 year-olds. The two day exhibition
will showcase some of the fantastic jobs, apprenticeships, academic
institutions and training bodies located in Scotland.
An all inclusive event the Futures Fest is as applicable to
a 16 year-old just about to leave school as it is to a 25 year-old with a
degree. Whether you’re chasing the graduate job of your dreams or fancy
tackling a modern apprenticeship, there’ll be plenty of exhibitors relevant to
you. Speak to enough of them and you might even find out about training and
employment opportunities you didn’t even know existed.
So many careers fairs are geared towards catering for just
graduates or just school leavers. The Futures Fest aims to have relevant info
and exhibitors for both groups. If you don’t fancy four years of further
education you can learn all about the amazing breadth of apprenticeships
available. Likewise, if you’re already at university but want to add some extra
skills before you graduate or just want to see what your degree can get you,
there’ll be someone there to help.
Set up with young people in mind, The Futures Fest will have
a fun, laid-back atmosphere meaning both attendees and exhibitors can interact
without the formalness found at more traditional events. More than just a
career fair, the Futures Fest will also have a large lifestyle section where
attendees can learn about and sample products relevant to their life outside
work and education.
Whether you want to learn new skills, find the right degree
for you or just grab a job that you’ll enjoy The Futures Fest is definitely an
event worth attending.
The Futures Fest takes
place on Glasgow George Square, 10AM-5PM, April 27th and 28th

What help is avaiable for adults who wish to do an apprenticeship?
ReplyDeleteI am 26 what help is there for me?
ReplyDeleteI am all for helping young adults into employment and this is a great idea. I think adults over 25 should also have these schemes available to help back to work. Especially with the rising unemployment.
