School leavers are set to be the focus of a new council jobs scheme.
Councillors yesterday rubber-stamped a £5 million plan to create 250 modern apprenticeships over the next five years.
And they heard that the option to come and work for the council in a three-year apprenticeship will be promoted among fifth and sixth year pupils.
Speaking at the policy and resources committee, Councillor Gail MacGregor said: “The key to the success of this is to target the right children in the right schools.
“For me, a crucial part is making children aware of this.”
