A YOUTH charity is paving the way for young people to gain vital skills in digital media with the launch of its own modern apprentice scheme.
Young Scot has teamed up with Creative Skillset, a sector skills council, to deliver the Modern Apprenticeship in Creative and Digital Media for young people aged 16 to 21 years.
The charity has focused the programme on those who face barriers to entering training and work.
The 12 apprentices will be placed with partner organisations such as, Sportscotland, NHS Health Scotland, Central Scotland Police, SEPA and Creative Scotland but will be employed and trained by Young Scot.
Louise Macdonald, chief executive of Young Scot, said the programme was designed to support young people’s transitions, giving them core skills for future workplaces.
“We believe that this forward thinking and innovative programme equips those involved to become more confident, develop new skills and gain relevant experiences to allow them to progress successfully in their future learning, life and work,” she said.
