Premier Inn pledge 2,000 Apprenticeships and 4,500 work placements

The hotel chain has pledged an additional 2,000 Apprenticeships and 4,500 work placements for young people in the UK by 2018. A total of 415 Apprenticeships were successfully completed in 2012, a number which is set to increase considerably under its new programme.

Premier Inn has thrown its weight behind calls for job growth in the private sector by announcing this week that it will also be creating 8,000 new jobs over the next five years owing to its rapid expansion plans.
From the 8,000 jobs being created, the hotelier has targeted 50% of them to long term unemployed people aged 16-24.
The announcements were made this week and attended by the Minister for Employment Esther McVey MP and Marinos Paphitis, the Agency’s Executive Director for Provider Management.
Marinos Paphitis said: “Premier Inn’s pledge of an additional 2,000 Apprenticeships and 4,500 work placements is welcome news. It will open opportunity to many who are looking for a career path into hospitality, an industry which plays such an important part in our economy.
“Premier Inn’s commitment to training and to developing Apprenticeship programmes, to the particular benefit of young people and the unemployed, is an example which I’m sure will inspire other employers too.”
