Shannen Scott (21) and Nicola England (19) (first and second
from left joined by other members of the Apprentice team) are the first of a
group of young people from Fife to complete the SFEDI Awards Level 3 Diploma in
Enterprising Skills in a Business Environment as part of their unique
Enterprise programme. On completion of her qualification Shannen has been
appointed Chief Executive (designate) of Apprenticeships in Scotland, a leading
social enterprise specialising in youth recruitment, while Nicola has successfully
secured a new appointment as an office manager for an educational charity. The appointment makes Shannen one of the
youngest Chief Executives in the country and strengthens the case for further
programmes focussed on enterprise.
The programme is part of Fife Council’s ‘Culture of
Enterprise Initiative’ which will support a further 20 learners in 2014.
Ronnie Davidson, Career Development Director at Career
Studio, had this to say, “The diploma has been a terrific introduction to
working life for the girls and their achievements are fantastic. The great
thing about this qualification is that it supports young people in developing
an emotional engagement with their work. Once you have developed a passion for
what you are doing, the sky’s the limit. I would encourage all entrepreneurs to
bring a young person into their business and work with them using the diploma
to support success”.

qualification please see the SFEDI Awards website here.
