The Scottish FA this week celebrates 10 years of the Modern Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence, an education programme which has benefited over 1600 professional footballers throughout the country.
In 2003, Scotland, along with the other Home Nations, came together to devise a programme which would support the off-field education of footballers who had signed their first professional contracts with a club.
With support from the UK Skills Council for Sport and Recreation, SkillsActive, the Scottish Qualifications Authority and Skills Development Scotland, the Modern Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (MA) was born.
Star names such as Shaun Maloney, Stephen McManus, James Forrest and Kris Boyd have completed their MA while emerging talents such as Craig Sibbald and Ryan Gauld are currently undertaking the course....READ MORE
