Scottish unemployment down by 11,000!





Unemployment in Scotland has fallen for the fifth time in a row, according to the latest figures. Apprenticeships in Scotland are happy to be a part of this by assisting with youth unemployment!

Office for National Statistics (ONS) data showed the number of people out of work fell by 11,000 between December and February to stand at 197,000.

The Scottish unemployment rate is 7.3%, which is below the average of 7.9% for the whole of the UK.
Employment in Scotland increased by 39,000 over the period to reach just over 2.5 million.

The number of people claiming Job Seeker's Allowance (JSA) fell by 600 from February to 136,600 in March - 6,700 fewer than a year ago.
