The City of Edinburgh Council has created a scholarship in
memory of Cllr Tom Buchanan the former convenor of the Economic Development
Committee.
The aim of the scholarship is to;
- Create a legacy in honour of the enthusiasm, dedication and work ethic of the late Councillor Tom Buchanan.
- Provide young people in Edinburgh with the opportunity to pursue a career in Economics/Economic Development.
The Scholarship is now advertising 3 posts, and these are
open to any young person living in Edinburgh who has just completed or is close
to completing a Modern Apprenticeship at level 3 in a relevant subject.
The successful candidates will work towards a Modern
Apprenticeship qualification in Business Administration at Level 4 and undertake
additional learning in specialist subject areas such as:
- External funding, claims and compliance.
- Strategy and Communications
- Business Management and Administration
Economic Development is an interesting career choice and
opens up a wide variety of opportunities.
Economic Development assistants and officers work to create jobs in their locality, attract investors and visitors to the City, encourage small business growth and create opportunities for Enterprise and innovation.
