MORE than 30,000 young Scots have found work since Alex Salmond appointed a minister to tackle the scourge of youth joblessness.
Angela Constance was made Youth Employment Minister in December 2011 when 113,000 16 to 24-year-olds were out of work.
And new stats yesterday showed the number of unemployed youngsters has plummeted to 79,000 – less than one in five.
First Minister Alex Salmond said: “Today’s hugely encouraging jobs figures show the benefit of investment in our young people.
“Since Angela Constance was appointed in December 2011, the number of
unemployed young people has fallen by 34,000.
