Forfar Boys’ Football Club has announced ambitious plans to link up with local businesses in an attempt to hone the skills of their players - both on and off the pitch.
Club chairman Barry Quinn has revealed the club is keen to become one of the first clubs in Scotland to work even closer with local businesses and industry to provide employment, career and apprenticeship opportunities for players aged between 16 and 19 looking for work in the area.
He told the Dispatch and Herald: “It is becoming increasingly difficult for young people to find employment and equally difficult for employers to find reliable, honest, hardworking and disciplined youngsters to join their organisations.
“We at Forfar Boys’ Football Club have instilled ethics, codes of conduct, discipline, hard work, team spirit and ambition in all our players from the moment they join the club.
“I personally believe they are valuable skills and attributes to have and, coupled with the right attitude, motivation and opportunity, we could strike up a long term partnership with businesses and the club.
“We are currently giving the boys a step up the football ladder, but hope local businesses will come forward to help give them a step up the career ladder.”...READ MORE
