Virgin Media Creates 60 Jobs to Meet Demand for Next-Gen Services

Some 60 positions have been created at Virgin Media's Bellshill contact centre.

Growing demand for next-generation cable TV and broadband services has prompted Virgin Media to create 60 new jobs at a customer contact centre in North Lanarkshire.

The new positions, which will be advertised over the coming fortnight, are set to bolster the Bellshill contact centre's 750-strong workforce.

Virgin Media already employs about 2,000 staff across Scotland, with this number expected to rise further over the next year.

Andrew Barron, chief operating office at Virgin Media, said: "By creating more opportunities, we will be able to meet the sustained appetite for TiVo - already the leading connected TV service in the country - and super-fast broadband, and ensure a great experience for all our customers."

This is the cable company's latest recruitment drive, coming three months after it announced the creation of approximately 200 jobs at a newly opened regional headquarters in the West Midlands.

Located in east Birmingham, the site is home to Virgin Media's Apprentice Training Centre, which offers placements in roles such as network engineer, planner and field technician.

It also features the Advanced Engineering and Technology Lab, where the internet service provider tests and explores future innovations.
