Seven jobs for seven apprentices at Irvine's GSK


Seven lucky youngsters have landed apprenticeships with pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline in a new scheme, the first of its kind in Scotland.
Five new manufacturing and two process technology apprentices have now started in a new course run by Ayrshire College.
GSK Irvine already has an established modern apprenticeship programme with 10 young people progressing their careers in engineering, laboratory, and commercial supply chain management.
But these additional seven apprenticeships are a first for the Irvine pharmaceutical plant and a first for the new Ayrshire College, and indeed a first in Scotland.
Alastair Leighton, GSK Irvine Site Director said: “These new multi-skilled manufacturing and process technology apprenticeships are designed to create the manufacturers of the future.
