Youngsters helped to climb the career ladder in oil and gas!

The energy sector is a highly competitive market and it can often be challenging for youngsters trying to get their first foot on the career ladder into the industry.

Apprenticeships are the ideal route for people to learn vital skills in oil and gas, and gain a recognised qualification in different trades.

Employing skilled personnel ensures high productivity in the workplace, highlighting the importance of companies taking time to invest in the future of their business through giving an opportunity of work placement to participants who have completed an industry based qualification.

Aberdeen based apprenticeship-training firm, ITCA Training, welcomed its first intake of participants to its new premises in the Kirkhill Industrial Estate, in Dyce, on the Entry to Apprenticeship (E2A) course recently.

ITCA, which was established in 1989, is one of the largest engineering apprenticeship-training firms in Scotland, and provides training for young employees in sectors including, welding, fabrication, mechanical engineering, business administration and logistics.

Since the launch of the pilot E2A scheme at the company in June 2013, the number of learners on the new course has risen from two to 13.

The training initiative offers the first step to an apprenticeship programme, and is funded by the national skills body, SDS (Skills Development Scotland) employability fund. READ MORE
